My Math Lab and roman numerals

I'm doing trigonometry this semester and lo behold with the book came this little booklet type thingy with a password for the wonderful site of 'My Math Lab' or commonly known for MACC math students as MML. Right now I'm doing the homework assigned by the professor with as much 'enthusiasm' as I can muster.

I'm hungry and bored and too lazy to get up from the chair. I have a history map to complete for the history class and have to read seven books in Iliad for the mythology class.

So here I was switching between doing h/w for MML and playing farmville in facebook when this wonderful problem of identifying quadrants for trig functions came up. And I was halfway through this wonderful problem where the answer was quadrant 3 and I kept pushing the damn number 3 on my keyboard and after doing it twice (You get three chances to get the right answer)I had an inkling of why it was saying my answer was wrong. And then after cursing the poor laptop in two different languages I pushed number 3 again.

And the wonderful MML said, "Your answer is incorrect. You answered '3' when the right answer is 'III'."

And I was (rightfully) very pissed off and started cursing MML in two different languages.. again.

And I WILL tell the professor!!! Just you wait MML!! I will win this war!!

P.S- Since I can't do anything to MML until I talk to the professor, I will hearby stop doing the homework and go back to farmville.

  1. Maybe you should stop Facebooking and concentrate on your math. When writing quadrant numbers Roman numerals are always exclusively used (like Quadrant III or QIII and NEVER Q3). Maybe that's what My Math Lab expected. Even if it's online, they probably expect the students to follow proper math etiquette.
