Alice in underland?

The new 'Alice in wonderland' was a letdown.. I was so pumped up to watch the movie after reading the news and the huge buzz it made.. i thought it might be the next 'avatar' or something but damn.. it was surprisingly stupid..

Johnny Depp with his mad mad hat, Anna Hathaway with her floating and queenly act and Helena Bonham Carter as an evil queen were awesome! But the supposedly main character of Alice was so.. bland.. in her emotional outburst she looked like she was reciting a boring play in high school. The 3-D was good.. especially during the cliche last stand and speedy movements.. but I thought it would have a better plot..

And it was VERY un-realistic.. if we're going by the time frame showed in the movie rejecting a proposal and running off in the middle of the said proposal was blasphemy and you would be a social outcast before you even know it.. and the 'independent woman' theme was not in that time.. women were considered to be men's partners; staying at home, watching after the kids, cooking and tending to her husband's needs and that's all.. they were NEVER allowed to partake in business as far as I know and going to China all alone without an 'escort' was social suicide..

I can't believe I wasted $20 for that.. the only good thing in that movie was the cheshire cat and Mad Hatter.. *sigh*

  1. Awww lol sorry you didn't like it! If you read "Through the Looking Glass" and "What Alice Found There" you would like it better. It was made to be a sequel to the first movie. I think a lot of people went in thinking it was going to be a remake of the first. I really liked it. The Jabberwocky was one of my favorite characters from that series when I was little so when they started talking about it in the movie I got super excited. I felt the 3-D was kinda lame. It looked more like a magic eye poster where it was layered instead of flowing. The Shrek preview looked awesome. I think 3-D is best when it is animated characters instead of real people. I'm sorry you didn't like the movie but yeah the Mad Hatter, Cheshire Cat, and March Hare were great. I loved the fact that they all knew when to duck because something would be flying at their heads!

  2. haha.. I didn't know there were books about it.. I just thought it might be a different sort of sequel.. the 3-D was only good for the animated fight scenes and super speeding stuff.. it was awesome in 'Avatar'. The tea party is so awesome! there's always something random in it..lol

  3. Yeah, well they didn't market it very well. Like usual Hollywood B.S. they marketed it so it would grab a large audience, targeting children. They didn't fully inform soon to be viewers that it was going to be more like the sequel books so many people went in thinking it was going to be something else. I didn't even know it was going to be like that. Not sure what I expected but once I started watching it I got where they were going with it. I haven't seen Avatar. I should watch it though, I've heard nothing but good things about it. I love the fact that they're doing more 3-D movies! I remember seeing them when I was a kid and they were nothing compared to what they are now haha. I felt like such a noob thinking the glasses were going to be nerdy red and blue ones.
